Minimap

The minimap is the fastest way to see where your fleets are and where you can send them next. Opened from the toolbar without leaving whatever screen you are already on, it stacks three views in one panel — the sectors of your current system, the systems of your current region, and the regions of the wider galaxy — each drawn on the same 3x3 grid the universe itself is built on, so you can read your position at any scale and jump straight to a destination with a click.

What it's for

The minimap opens as a floating panel from its toolbar icon, so you can check your position and plan a move without leaving the sector, contact, or station screen you're already on. It answers the same question at three different scales: what's around me right now, what does my region look like, and how does the wider galaxy connect. Pick a destination on any of its three tabs and the game takes you straight there.

The three tabs

  • System - a 3x3 grid of the nine sectors that make up your current system. The center sector always holds the system's core, its star; the other eight can carry belts, stations, gates, and containers, plus markers for any of your own fleets sitting there, each shown with its own icon per the on-screen legend. The system's name and security level are shown above the grid.
  • Region - a 3x3 grid of the nine systems in your current region. Each system is drawn as its own miniature sector grid, tinted by its security band, with lines tracing the gates that connect them. Systems where you have no fleet present are dimmed: the layout stays visible across the whole region as a strategic overview, but only systems you actually hold a ship in let you act once you travel there.
  • Galaxy - a 3x3 grid of the nine regions that make up the galaxy. Each region is drawn as its own miniature grid of systems, with the gate links between regions traced as lines, so you can see how the wider galaxy connects at a glance.
  • Click the minimap icon in the toolbar to open the panel, then switch between the System, Region, and Galaxy tabs to change scale.
  • On the System tab, click an empty sector to jump straight to it, or click directly on a belt, station, gate, or container icon to open that entity instead of the sector around it.
  • On the Region tab, click any sector inside one of the nine system grids to travel straight to that system and sector in one step.
  • On the Galaxy tab, click a system's core icon to jump to that system's core sector.
  • Selecting anything on the minimap closes the panel and takes you straight to the destination — there is no separate confirm step.
The Region and Galaxy tabs show the full strategic layout regardless of where your fleets are, but you can only act inside a system once you have actually moved a fleet there — browsing the map never grants presence on its own.

Everything in the Codex is part of a galaxy you can actually command.
