Shipboard, not stationbound
Vela is not tied to Krakken's Halt, or to Helios Nexus, or to any single venue. She travels with the fleet, ship by ship, so the same voice and the same portrait greet a commander whether the lesson is a first belt run or a first station sale. A future training contract issued from a different lawful station would still be hers to deliver — her presence is fleet-wide and Concordat-wide, never local.
Delivering the Concordat's curriculum
The Wayfarer Concordat certifies commanders and licenses the standardized training contracts every pilot receives at first launch, but it holds no spawn quota, no stronghold, and no garrison of its own to put that licensing into practice. Vela is how that gap closes. Two curricula ship today under her guidance:
- A first mining run — mine a belt, then bank the haul as a first contract reward.
- A first sale — carry that haul to a station counter and complete the transaction.
She trains every commander the same way regardless of the fleet flying it, which is exactly the neutrality the Concordat itself claims: certification, not allegiance.
Character and tone
Vela introduces herself plainly, as an AI assistant rather than a generic guide: "I'm your guide. Let's fly through a full mining run — mine a belt, sell the haul, and bank your first contract reward." She stays present through the whole task rather than issuing instructions and leaving — "I'll stay right here until every cargo hold is full" is the kind of line that defines her register: professional, warm, and constant, closer to a companion than a clerk.
A commander does not read the Concordat's charter to learn what it does. They meet it in Vela.
