Commander Creation
Commander creation is your first order: choose a universe, a people, and a face, then launch three kibby mining tugs at Helios Nexus with 50 credits and a first contract. The commander you commission carries a designation unique to its universe, and is yours to refit or dismiss later — never duplicated.

Your Universe, Your Colors
Every commander starts by picking a universe (the MMO galaxy is free to play) and a people: Human, Khareth, or Dralvok. A people is your identity in the Expanse, not a stat on a sheet, the name you carry into every captain's log, not a line on your ship's readout. Commissioning then draws your face: one appearance at random the moment you choose a people, a gallery of every alternative that people offers to step through instead, or a fresh roll from Surprise me if you would rather leave it to chance. The face and designation you commission are what every other commander sees beside your name, in the contact table and on the Broadcast board.
Your First Command
You launch at Helios Nexus with three kibby mining tugs, 50 credits in your account and a first contract waiting at the station. Everything that follows, every order, every credit spent, is your call to make.
Refit and Farewell
A commissioned commander is not permanent. A Premium account can reopen the commissioning screen in refit mode, once every seven days per commander, and change civilisation, face, or designation without touching ships, credits, standing, or corporation. Dismissing a commander is a separate door, open to every plan: delete one from your account's Commanders tab and everything they held goes with them — fleet, credits, activity, and any pending corporation application — freeing their designation the instant they are gone. An account may dismiss one commander every seven days, across every universe, and a founder must transfer or dissolve their corporation before they can go.
Designations and the Roster
Two commanders sharing a universe can never share a designation: a name is claimed on creation and on refit, folded to ignore case, spaces, dots, hyphens, and underscores, so the same name stays free in every other universe. A free account holds one commander per universe; Premium raises that to three, enforced the moment you try to add another rather than taken back from an account that already exceeds it.
