Corporations

Corporations are player-founded guilds, one roster per universe: found one for free, and its tag flies before your name everywhere in the game, from the radar to the leaderboard.

A tag is not a title. It is what every commander reads before they read your name.

Founding and the Tag

Founding costs nothing. Pick a tag of three to five characters, a name, a charter, and an emblem drawn from ten heraldic devices across six banner colours. The tag is fixed the moment you found — it is the identity other commanders learn you by, rendering before your name on the radar, in contact cards, on the leaderboard, and on every message you post to the Broadcast board. The galaxy's two ideological powers fly tags of their own: every ship flown by the Nexus Protectorate or the Crimson Corsairs carries PROT or CORS before its name, though neither takes applications.

Directory, Applications, and Rank

The directory lists every corporation in your universe, its size, and whether it is recruiting; open one to read its charter before you apply. You hold one pending application at a time, and a founder or officer accepts or refuses it. Three ranks share the roster: a member reads the sheet, deposits into the treasury, and leaves at will; an officer additionally handles applications and can dismiss a member; only the founder edits the charter, promotes or demotes, transfers command, or dissolves the corporation outright. A founder cannot simply walk away with others still aboard — command must be handed over or the corporation dissolved first.

Treasury and the Levy

Any member can deposit credits into the treasury, and once an hour it pays a levy that grows faster than the roster does: a lone founder owes two credits, ten members owe over sixty, fifty members owe more than seven hundred. A corporation is never dissolved for being poor. When it cannot cover its levy, recruitment is simply suspended until a deposit tops the treasury back up.
